Please take note that the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana has recently updated its Administrative Procedures for Filing Electronic Documents.  The most impactful change is an increase in the maximum file size for document uploads to CM/ECF and the Judicial Evidence Recording System (JERS).  Before your next Middle District of Louisiana e-filing transaction, be sure to carefully review the revised Administrative Procedures.

The Judicial Conference Committee on Rules of Practice and Procedure (Standing Committee) approved publication of an amendment to Evidence Rule 801, which would take effect on December 1, 2026.  The comment period is open until February 17, 2025.

In honor of President James Earl Carter, Jr., the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana will be closed on Thursday, January 9th, 2025, for the National Day of Remembrance.

In response to nation-state hackers conducting an espionage campaign targeting U.S. commercial telecommunications infrastructure (e.g., AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile networks) to monitor government phone calls, text messages, and other sensitive information, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana has implemented encrypted communication solutions for sensitive court business which are effective immediately.
