On April 22, 2026, the Louisiana Middle District Court issued General Orders impacting how cases will be assigned to judicial officers in the Middle District, as well as new procedures in cases by persons alleging to be illegally detained in immigration custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (“ICE Cases”).
The Middle District of Louisiana is in the process of qualifying jurors for future jury service. If you receive a Qualification Questionnaire in the mail, you are required by federal law to respond.
The U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana is alerting the public to an ongoing malicious phishing campaign in which emails falsely appear to originate from the Federal Court System or the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts. These messages may look highly legitimate, often incorporating the U.S. Courts logo and other official-appearing details, including the address of the Administrative Office.

If you receive a Qualification Postcard in the mail, you are required by federal law to respond. A questionnaire is NOT a jury summons and does NOT require you to appear at the courthouse.
On October 16, 2025, PACER released an update that allows users with CM/ECF-level access (e.g., filers, interested parties, etc.), whose account search status becomes inactive due to search inactivity, the ability to reset their own password without contacting the PACER Service Center (PSC).
Important: Users with CM/ECF-level filing access can still file even if their search status shows as “inactive” due to six months of inactivity.
A fake website is currently impersonating www.cvb.uscourts.gov and may attempt to collect personal or financial information fraudulently. The only official website for paying a U.S. District Court Violation Notice is www.cvb.uscourts.gov. If you are paying online, please verify the web address carefully and report suspicious activity to the Central Violations Bureau (CVB) at 800-827-2982 or info@cvb.uscourts.gov.
The Judicial Conference Committee on Rules of Practice and Procedure (Standing Committee) approved for publication and public comment proposed amendments to existing rules and forms, as well as one new rule as listed below:
• Appellate Rule 15;
• Bankruptcy Rule 2002, Official Forms 101 and 106C;
• Civil Rules 7.1, 26, 41, 45, and 81;
• Criminal Rule 17; and
• Evidence Rule 609 and new Rule 707.
