Attorney Training

The U.S. District Court for the Middle District Court of Louisiana offers the following CLE Accredited training courses.

If you are a law firm or organization who would like to schedule a training please use the Topic Registration form below to request training. Please include topics you would like covered and number of attendees (max 16).

*Note: Support staff may use their attorney's bar role number but must use their own email address to register.

Notice to Attendees: Following completion of any of the above CLE Accredited courses you should monitor your training records with the Louisiana Supreme Court Committee on Mandatory Continuing Legal Education. If you do not receive credit within 30 days of completion of the course, please contact attendance@lascmcle.org.


Course Descriptions (Past Years)

Electronic Case Filing

  • Introduction to Electronic Case Filing for Attorneys and Support Staff:
    • Course #: 6715160102           CLE credit hours: 2.0
       
    • Conducted for two hours with hands-on activities and will consist of an instructor overview and demonstration of the Case Management and Electronic Case Filing application (CM/ECF) in the Middle District of Louisiana.  The course is designed to provide participants with a working knowledge of the CM/ECF application, including, but not limited to case opening, case filings, etc.
       
    • NOTE: Class size will be limited to 16 students.
  • Electronic Case Filing for Attorneys and Support Staff Experienced in CM/ECF:
    • Course #: 6715160708          CLE credit hours: 2.0
       
    • This class is conducted for two hours with hands-on training in the Case Management/Electronic Case Filing System (CM/ECF). The course is designed to provide detailed training to attorneys and their staff on filing documents and pleadings which are less routine in nature.  Examples of such filings include civil case opening, initiating pleadings, sealed pleadings, supplemental pleadings requiring leave of court, and topics suggested by participants. An open discussion session will conclude the course. Participants are encouraged to come to this class with topics they wish the trainer to address. This course requires a general knowledge of the CM/ECF application and the Introduction course is strongly recommended as a prerequisite.

Courtroom Technology

  • Electronic Courtrooms in Louisiana Middle District
    • Course #: 6715160402           CLE credit hours: 1.0
       
    • This class is conducted for one hour in an electronic courtroom environment and will consist of an instructor overview and demonstration of the audio and video equipment and the Judicial Evidence Recording System (JERS) in the Middle District of Louisiana.  The course is designed to provide participants with a working knowledge of the technology available for counsel to use during a trial or court proceeding, including, but not limited to evidence presentation, sidebar conferencing, and the Judicial Evidence Recording System.  Attendees are encouraged to bring their own equipment to test and demo during and after the class.
       
    • NOTE: Class size will be limited to 25 students.
